After Pearl Harbor Visit, Japan Defense Minister Goes to Yasukuni Shrine

Japan’s defense minister visited a shrine seen by some of Tokyo’s neighbors as glorifying the nation’s militaristic past, after returning from a ceremony this week commemorating the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

Tomomi Inada visited the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo early Thursday, television footage showed. The shrine honors Japan’s war dead, including convicted war criminals.
