Aside from Shohei Ohtani, which rookies impressed the most in week 1?

Shohei Ohtani has made his case for “Rookie of the first week” with dazzling performances as a hitter and a pitcher. But outside of the Japanese phenom, who is the rookie-eligible player who has impressed you most during the first scoring period of the season?

Tristan H. Cockcroft:It’s Jack Flaherty – yes, a guy now in the minor leagues – for me, which probably says more about how uninspiring the besides-Ohtani rookie class has been through 11 days than anything. That’s no knock on Colin Moran, Brian Anderson or Tyler Mahle, each of whom has had his moments, but Flaherty’s nine-strikeout performance against the Milwaukee Brewers on the road (at that hitter-friendly ballpark) stands above the rest as the key Week 1 takeaway. In it, Flaherty’s slider was dancing like it did during his ever-so-brief 2017 stint in the bigs, responsible for seven of his nine strikeouts
