Belmont Stakes 2017 Post Positions: Odds and Predictions for Field

One thing is for certain when it comes to the 149th running of the Belmont Stakes Saturday evening in Elmont, New York: We’ll see a third horse win a Triple Crown race this year. 

Yes, the field has lost a lot of its luster without Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming. You won’t find Preakness winner Cloud Computing in the 12-horse race either. But there’s still a $1.5 million purse up for grabs and the prestige of winning one of the biggest races in the sport to bring some interest to the Belmont. 

It’s a wide-open field with imperfect favorites and interesting long shots. According to AccuWeather meteorologist Brian Thompson the New York track should remain dry and fast so weather shouldn’t be a factor and could set the stage for a fun race.
