Anthony Davis had 26 points and 15 rebounds, and New Orleans rallied in the final two minutes to beat San Antonio 121-116 on Wednesday night, adding to the Spurs’ misery after losing LaMarcus Aldridge to an injury in the first half.
”We had that a little bit down the stretch today, we felt sorry (for ourselves),” San Antonio veteran Manu Ginobili said. ”We said OK, we are missing a lot of guys and we stopped executing when we needed it the most.”
New Orleans overcame a 15-point deficit and won its seventh straight to move within a half-game of San Antonio, which dropped a game behind Minnesota for third in the West.
”We just kept battling,” New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry said. ”We weren’t playing the greatest. I thought we were kind of a half a step slow in everything we were doing and they were attacking us. We were having trouble controlling the dribble penetration but we just kept plugging away and plugging away.”
