“I’ve always felt like my dream would be to be able to walk away from the game on my terms, rather than to say, ‘Oh, my body couldn’t do it anymore and the team cut me because I wasn’t good enough,’” Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins said Sunday. “It’s a dream of mine to be able to leave this game on my terms where I could still do it, but I say, ‘No, I’m good.’”
Whenever and wherever Cousins decides he’s had enough of the NFL life, he should hope for a better fate than that of Giants quarterback Eli Manning, his counterpart in the Redskins’ 20-10 win over New York on Thanksgiving. Giants Coach Ben McAdoo on Tuesday made the surprising announcement that Geno Smith would start in Manning’s place on Sunday at Oakland, ending Manning’s consecutive games started streak at 210 games and perhaps his career as a Giant.
McAdoo also indicated that he would use the final five games of the season to evaluate rookie quarterback Davis Webb, so even if Smith struggles, and no one will be surprised if he does, there’s a good chance that someone other than Manning will
