Ex-Jets QB Christian Hackenberg visits Patriots | The next Tom Brady?

Well, this is interesting, if you consider a bust quarterback visiting his former team’s rival to be interesting:

The Jets traded Hackenberg to the Raiders last month for a conditional seventh-round draft pick. But the Raiders are going to keep that pick, because they waived Hackenberg after just three weeks. (The conditions involved how many games Hackenberg spent on the Raiders’ roster.)

Hackenberg passed through waivers and is now a free agent. And as such, he can visit any team he wants … or, more accurately, any team that wants him.

The Jets, of course, drafted Hackenberg in Round 2 in 2016. He wasn’t good enough to get a single regular season snap for them. And so they essentially cut him after they drafted Sam Darnold third overall this spring. Then Hackenberg couldn’t even last one month in Oakland.

The Patriots’ future Hall of Fame quarterback, Tom Brady, is getting up there in years. He turns 41 in August, though he remains elite.

So could Hackenberg be the next Brady in New England?

No.
