Flyers prospect Lyon makes 94 saves in longest game in AHL history

Lehigh Valley defeated Charlotte 2-1 in Game 4 of the Calder Cup Playoff second-round series when Alex Krushelnyski scored at 6:48 of the fifth overtime (146:48 into the game).

Lyon finished four saves shy of the AHL record. 

Michael Leighton made 98 saves for Albany against the Philadelphia Phantoms in Game 5 of the East Division Semifinals on April 24, 2008. Philadelphia won 3-2 in the fifth overtime in what had been the longest game in AHL history (142:58).

Lyon, 25, who was 4-2-1 with a 2.75 goals-against average and .905 save percentage in 11 games for the Flyers this season, made 40 saves in regulation, 11 in the first overtime, 15 in the second, 12 in the third, 14 in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Lehigh Valley has a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series against Charlotte, the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.
