Joe Thomas loves Tyrod Taylor trade: ‘Reminds me of Russell Wilson’

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Joe Thomas called the first ’emergency’ ThomaHawk podcast just a few hours before his brother’s wedding on Saturday to comment on the Browns’ four trades, and he gave rave reviews to all the moves — especially the trade for quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

He didn’t say whether or not the deal will entice him to come back for the final year of his contract in 2018, but he did sound very excited about Taylor, who will be the 29th QB to start for the Browns since 1990, and potentially the 20th starter getting left-side protection from Thomas.

The announcement that he was taping the podcast just hours before his brother’s wedding explains why Thomas hasn’t yet announced his decision whether to come back. This weekend was all about his brother, and Thomas’ announcement will likely come in the next few days, with the ‘legal tampering’ period opening Monday.

Will Taylor trade keep Thomas from retiring?

Here’s what Thomas said:

* “I’m going to toot my my own horn a little bit here. I said that the Browns should be trading for Tyrod Taylor. Many weeks ago I thought he was the most underrated player that might be available at quarterback and lo and behold it seems like John Dorsey must be a big ThomaHawk fan.”

* “I think it’s a great trade.
