Phil Jackson and the triangle are no longer here but that didn’t help the Knicks’ chances at landing the top two point guards on their wish list – Jrue Holiday and Jeff Teague.
Teague made a quick decision in signing with the Wolves exactly Friday at midnight on a 3-year, $57 million. On Saturday morning, Holiday agreed to terms on a five-year, $126 million pact with the Pelicans, who were desperate to keep him.The Knicks had set up a meeting with Holiday for the weekend if he didn’t come to an agreement in his midnight meeting.
According to a source, the Knicks are still in play for Utah PG George Hill but at $16 million of cap room probably don’t have enough to get it done either. The Knicks were looking to trade Courtney Lee’s contract to open more cap space for Hill, as they were doing for Teague and Holiday. Lee makes $12 million next season.
Denver and Indiana are also in the Hill mix. Hill played at Indiana and is a native. “Denver and Indiana are a little more further along,” one NBA source said in the Hill hunt.
