With Mayweather vs. McGregor a done deal, Leonard Ellerbe talks about the upcoming fight and what could possibly happen when it occurs.
CEO of Mayweather Promotions Leonard Ellerbe had an incredibly busy day y.
Late Wednesday afternoon, it was announced that Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor have signed on to fight one another on August 26 in Las Vegas. The fight will take place inside a boxing ring and will be promoted by Mayweather’s own firm.
Shortly after the announcement, UFC President Dana White, Showtime Sports’ General Manager Stephen Espinoza and Ellerbe, the three men involved in negotiating arguably the greatest deal in the history of combat sports, hosted a media conference call to discuss the superfight.
Between the two fighters’ personalities, some were having trouble trying to figure out which man would receive top of the line featuring in the buildup for the fight. For White, the obvious answer is McGregor but Ellerbe sees it the opposite way.
“Floyd is the A-side, come on man,” said Ellerbe.
Regardless of Ellerbe’s sentiment, this doesn’t change the possible outcome of the fight. Ellerbe has made a point to let the world know that Mayweather is in no way taking this fight lightly because of how dangerous McGregor’s striking is.
