Potential top draft pick Luka Doncic told reporters that he hasn’t decided if he will make the leap from Europe to the NBA next season.
“Ι’m not sure if these are the last two games [in Europe],” Doncic said at a news conference for the EuroLeague Final Four. “We have yet to make this decision. Perhaps after the season.”
Doncic, 19, plays for Real Madrid. He is the No. 2 overall prospect available in the 2018 NBA draft, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, and is expected to be among the top three picks next month. The Phoenix Suns have the first pick in the draft; the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks round out the top five.
A point guard, Doncic is considered one of the top players in Europe. He is a two-time EuroLeague rising star winner (2017, 2018).
Alongside Goran Dragic — and playing for newly hired Suns coach Igor Kokoskov — Doncic helped lead Slovenia to its first EuroBasket gold medal in 2017, highlighted by victories over Kristaps Porzingis and Latvia and Marc Gasol and Spain.
