UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping says the UFC should want him to lose to George St-Pierre next weekend, and here’s why.
In just over a week we will finally get to see the highly anticipated bout between UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. While most people are focusing on who will win the bout, Bisping is more concerned about what will happen after.
“He wants to beat me, go back down to welterweight, beat Tyron [Woodley], and then face Conor [McGregor], beat all three, and then retire and make a ton of money. And the UFC probably wants that to happen. By that I don’t mean beat Conor, I mean beat me. Beat me, then either beat Woodley or go straight to Conor,” Bisping said on his podcast Believe You Me (h/t MMA Fighting for transcript)
Bisping has already said there is a possibility he retires after this fight, and Georges St-Pierre is just returning to the Octagon after a four-year layoff so it would make sense that the UFC would be interested in whoever wants to stick around winning the middleweight title.
He went on to say that it’s likely that GSP is angling for a fight against UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor, despite his insistence against such claims.
