Odell Beckham Jr. injures leg in Giants’ game vs. Chargers, will have surgery

Odell Beckham Jr. fractured his ankle during the fourth quarter of the Giants’ game against the Chargers and has been ruled out for the game.

After the game, it was reported that Beckham will have surgery, though the Giants have not confirmed that:

The team believes it is a broken ankle for Beckham, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. There is a possibility of ligament damage, and Beckham will have an MRI, NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones reported.

The Giants’ training staff brought out the cart, and he was taken off the field in tears. Earlier in the game, the Giants lost receivers Brandon Marshall, Dwayne Harris, and Sterling Shepard.

Beckham was going up for a reception when a Chargers defender landed on his left ankle. It was the same ankle that Beckham injured in the preseason against the Browns. Beckham took a helmet to the knee, but his ankle was briefly caught in the turf, causing the initial injury.

Beckham came into Sunday’s game as the second-leading receiver on the team with 205 yards and two touchdown receptions. He had a game-leading 97 yards and a touchdown before he was injured.
