Rangers minor-league report: Pitcher on the comeback trail at Round Rock

In the opener, LHP Wes Benjamin worked six innings in a 2-0 victory. In the second game, LHP Jeffrey Springs had two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to close out a 4-2 win. Springs has 145 strikeouts for 110 innings on the season.

LOW-A HICKORY (36-29, 63-72): RHP A.J. Alexy had 5 1/3 scoreless innings for a no-decision in a 2-0 loss at Charleston (New York Yankees). Alexy has 11 1/3 scoreless innings with three hits allowed and 16 strikeouts in his last two starts. The Rangers obtained Alexy from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Yu Darvish deal.

SHORT SEASON A SPOKANE (21-14, 37-36): C Matt Whatley had four hits, including a homer, and drove in five runs during a 10-5 win at Salem-Keizer (San Francisco). Whatley is hitting .366 for 41 at-bats in his last nine games.

ROOKIE ARIZONA (16-9, 29-23): DH Sam Huff had three hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs during a 15-1 win against Milwaukee. Huff leads the Arizona League in homers with nine.
