Report: Colin Kaepernick Won’t Receive Nike Sneaker, ‘Extensive Clothing Line’

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick reportedly won’t receive a signature shoe or an “extensive clothing line” from Nike despite the company’s decision to use him as the face of its 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign.

Darren Rovell of ESPN reported the update Tuesday amid speculation about Nike’s plans for the NFL free agent, who started the movement of kneeling for the United States national anthem before games to protest racial injustice in August 2016.

Selection of the polarizing Kaepernick has led to some backlash against Nike.

Uday Sampath Kumar and Emma Thomasson of Reuters noted shares of the company stock dropped three percent during early trading Tuesday, while the hashtag “Nike Boycott” trended on
