Soccer_960#14 Zinedine Zidane – so far, so very good

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez has never been one to shy away from firing a manager whenever the club has failed to meet the club’s lofty standards.

In January, out went Rafa Benitez and Real Madrid playing legend Zinedine Zidane was placed in charge. With no top class coaching experience, it seemed to be another coaching lamb being readied for the slaughter.

But it has not turned out that way. Real Madrid was unable to derail Barcelona on its way to a domestic double earlier this year but for the rest of the year, Real Madrid has been the dominant force.

After two defeats in Zidane’s first few months in charge, Real Madrid finished the year on an unbeaten streak of 37 games having collected an 11th Champions League trophy and the FIFA Club World Cup along the way.
