In his return to Oklahoma City for the first time as a member of the Warriors last season, Kevin Durant heard all of the boos and saw all of the cupcake signs, but Golden State cruised to a 130-114 victory over the Thunder. Ahead of Wednesday night’s game, OKC fans can’t worry all that much about what Durant is doing. Billy Donovan’s team already has enough problems.
The Thunder currently sit in the bottom half of the Western Conference standings at 7-9 and have struggled to figure out the winning formula with the new “Big Three” of Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. OKC has struggled so far to put together complete games, often falling apart in the third quarter as well as clutch time in losses.
The Warriors, meanwhile, find themselves tied with the Rockets for the best record in the West at 13-4 overall. Durant, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are each averaging at least 20 points per game, and Golden State owns the No. 1 offensive rating and net rating in the NBA. Can the Thunder step up to the challenge, or is a blowout inevitable?
