Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton snubbed for All-Star Game. Who won Fan Vote?

Less than a year after winning the National League MVPGiancarlo Stanton isn’t even going to the All-Star Game.

Stanton lost the American League Fan Vote on Wednesday, Major League Baseball announced.

The Mariners’ Jean Segura beat out the other four men in the running.

Stanton was also up against the Red Sox’s Andrew Benintendi, the Twins’ Eddie Rosario and the Angels’ Andrelton Simmons.

Easy to argue that Stanton might have earned his spot in the Midsummer Classic with a strong June and July.

Stanton was hitting .269 with 22 home runs and 52 RBI in 350 at-bats entering Wednesday.

Since June 1, he’s hit .301 with 11 bombs, 23 RBI and a .950 OPS in 146 at-bats.

Before June 1, he hit just .245 with 11 homers and 29 RBI in 204 at-bats.

The Yankees acquired Stanton, carrying the game’s biggest contract, in a trade with the Marlins in the offseason.
